When selling common date inexpensive coins on ebay ($20.00 or less) do you think the final selling price is hindered by going with a three day listing versus a five or seven day listing?

Always ALWAYS list an item for as long as you can

-more people see it because most people don't do searches every 3 days
-searchers are normally going to look at the New listings at the end of the page instead of the middle
-the longer it is on the more bids can and do happen
-if no bids it does allow you the luxury to alter your listing while still having plenty of time for bidders to see it
-you are paying the money regardless to sell something...might as well let it be seen.

I do agree with many of GO's points, but let me offer some other kernels for thought- these are opinions, not facts:

I think many people do not want to wait 5, 7, 10 days for an auction to close, they want to bid and win quickly. We are in a society in which most people cannot "delay gratification" and want things now. As a buyer, it drives me nuts to see a 10 day auction that I found on day 2 and my impulse is to bid on it earlier than later.

Shorter auctions might work for sellers who want to give the appearance that this is a rare item, and will never appear again- this "rarity" appearance could actually bolster final auction prices because there is a bidding frenzy.

That being said, I still agree with GO that longer is better. Unless I am pressed for time, I will do 7 or 10 day auctions. 10 day auctions you have to pay 40 cents extra I think.

For common dates and bullion, 3 days is ideal. If you have a rare coin and looking for that right person to see it, then 1 week would be better.

I personally look at what coins are coming due on a daily basis. I rarely look ahead more than a day or two at a time unless I am looking for a particular date. Therefore as fas as my ebay habits are concerned the three day listing is fine.

I have also noticed that no major bidding is done on a common date coin until the last day.

I appreciate your opinions.

Thanks,

For common dates I would do Buy-it-Now with the max allowable time. It takes away the "wait" factor and it allows the greatest amount of people possible to see the coin. Most BIN prices are outragious. So make yours reasonable and you will stand out bigtime.
