I am on the fence about this 1900 O MS64+ PL in the newest NGC holder. The coin retails per NGC price guide at $225, and bidding is already at $227.50. I could only find one other MS64+PL in realized auction prices that sold about 5 years ago. A MS65 PL will sell for about $500. NGC POP 229 MS64 PL and 91 MS65 PL. Please tell me what you think of the coin and the current auction price. Below is the link to the ebay Auction: 221913060278Edited by Slider23 10/18/2015 1:11 pm

I thought NGC labels were centered? This one is aligned left.

Yikes, I don't like it. The chin, neck and front field scratches are killers. With pl and dmpl you don't want your attention focused anywhere else

Saw that one last night and almost bid on it.
Too many distracting marks for me, and it looks like it will go for more than book value, which is around $250-$275 IMO. You'd be better off getting a nice 64 with a green CAC, especially in terms of future value.
The new NGC holders are aligned left on the labels. This makes room for the surface/strike designation on ancients, which is now taking up the right of the label.

That gash on the jaw is going to need about 10 stitches.

Thanks for the input. I did not put in a bid for the coin as Dave 700 notes that the gash in the cheek needs about 10 stitches. The coin sold for $255.
The biggest problem that I have with coin collecting is having patience and waiting for the quality coin at the correct price. I have a MS63 1900 O, but I wanted to upgrade it to a PL coin.

I think you did well to let that one go.
For me .. if I am going to pay more than listed value, I want it to be a really nice example.
That coin just did not have the eye appeal.

It may be a "technical" 64 but as mentioned it does not have the eye appeal. That gash would be the first thing you see every time you look at that coin.
