I've plucked such singly from dealers' bargain bins, but today at a coin show, I ran across a tray of them priced right. Here's what I cherrypicked there:

Instant-Transit-Token-Collection!

And yes, I realize this group hardly scratches the surface for this genre....

Nice find, great variety :) There in nice condition for bargain bin too. Planning on collecting anymore transit tokens in time?

A nice piece of introductory numismatics here; I certainly hope it provides the impetus for you to research the series.
You will end up learning quite some about and interesting era in American public transport history.

Are any of these worth anything? I have a bunch of them I picked out of a bargain bin also (I have about half the ones you have posted). The dealer gave them to me for free because I was the first person in a while to sort though it.

Well, certainly any further specimens I come across I'll pick up, provided they're not too dear. But it's not my intention to go crazy on them.

@ Lucky Cuss

Yeah, they certainly make an inexpensive little side project. Would love to get a hold of the Atwoods Catalogue of US and Canadian Transportation Tokens, then I'd get a bit more into it
Rest in Peace

You got a nice little collection there.

I have the Washington DC one.

There must be thousands upon thousands that I've never seen. Boggles the mind....

Nice grouping. Took me back a "few" years. Piqued my interest in a new direction of collecting too. Thanks for the post.

EconBrony depending on how recent you want used copies of the Atwoods Catalogue of US and Canadian Transportation Tokens aren't that expensive especially on Amazon.

From what I can find, the newest edition is the 6th which I was able to find for sale on Brooklyn Gallery http://www.brooklyngallery.com/cgi-...y=0249-TM473

There's also a free supplement to the 6th found here http://www.vecturist.com/index.php?name=Supplement

Thought I'd share this in case anyone was interested. -MV

Pretty cool! A few nights ago a bag full of 100+ trade and transit tokens sold at our clubs Live Auction for only $3!
Anyways, IRON on!
