My question is, has anyone ever found a P mint RPM? If not, why not? While I'm asking, I thought I might as well show you an MD penny that I thought was fairly amusing. I call it Double Eyes.

Seriously though, I have often wondered about the P mint RPM. Anyone ever heard of one? They did punch them by hand at Philly didn't they? Did they pay their punch guys more than the other mints did? What's up with that?

There is actually quite a few RPM's on Wexler's site, including a lot of 1943 nickels: http://doubleddie.com/1469003.html

Yes, I see. I can only find them on War Nickels though. I would think there should be more, even on dimes and such.

I recall finding a RPM P-mint nickel from the 70's a while ago, but I might be wrong.

Kind of strange but other that to note what the M was, I never thought to look closer. Until now ...
Rest in Peace

Good thing Lincoln wasn't wearing glasses at the time of his design.

In addition to the War Nickels, the handpunched P mintmark only appeared on nickels, dimes, quarters, and half dollars from 1980 to 1989 and on SBAs from 1979 to 1981. The timeline for RPMs is considerably limited compared to D and S mintmarks.

Thanks to all for the comments.I can only guess that the Philadelphia Mint had higher quality control standards at least from 1980 to 1989. I suppose the only P RPM we'll ever see will be on a silver nickel. One found on a coin after 1979 would be worth a large fortune.
