If it were a crack we would see the edge of that area raised. Looks like it has lifted a bit moved a little. The edge looks like you could see under it?

extra metal.

What do you mean?

I mean struck though extra metal that is still attached, but like Coop mentioned it should be a bit over weight. Your coin is under weight. Are you sure your scale is accurate? Is the reverse side normal?

I cannot see where that little bit of extra metal would make enough difference in weight to be noticeable on a scale. I notice, when weighing cents, that the weight will vary by at least .05 g. I see no way to tell whether that kind of variance would be attributable to the extra metal or not.

I can't tell if it is a lamination or a retained strike through. It MIGHT be a struck through rim burr but it seems a little large for that.

I weighed 5 more LWC cents after I weighed this one and they all came in at 3.1gm.

Maybe, it actually looks almost like I can pry it off. Not gonna try though...

It's a lamination error.

Could you explain how you came to that conclusion so others can understand better?

I don't understand. Appears like a pre-cud crack to me.
Rest in Peace

With the rim disturbed as is and the flatten devices in the affected area seems a lamination pushed up and someone or something in its past, may have helped push it back in place. Thanks, Doug.
