I'm curious about the light circle in the 2nd photo. What does it weigh?

Coins cancelled by the US mint have a clear appearance. The waves are a whole lot more pronounced and pointed on cancelled US coins than the ones on this coin. I'd say it's probably foreign.

Why do the waffle them? To prevent someone to use it in a vending machine. They are sent off to be re-cycled.

Way underweight for a nickel, which weighs 5 g.

Since it was in a nickel roll, can we assume it is of same diameter?

Wait a minute: where did I get nickel roll? You just said "hunting", right? So the better question is what diameter is it?
