I got out for a couple of hours on Tuesday afternoon with my detecting buddy Tony.
We hunted a new permission, a bar that was originally a hotel built in the mid-1800s. Tony's is a friend of the owner.
We hunted the backyard. We didn't find much, but along the back property line, just on the edge of a small woods, Tony dug up an 1871
Indian Head cent. It has a strong LIBERTY and a lovely green patina. Unfortunately, someone tried to make a hole in it. It doesn't go through to the reverse, though.
It's the oldest coin Tony has found and he was thrilled.
