Today I had my greatest success in my four years of detecting. Granted, my "greatest success" may seem very tame compared to all those YouTube videos where they are finding twenty silvers in a day, but I am thrilled. I hunted the woods along the Milwaukee River in the north part of Milwaukee, WI for a couple of hours this morning. I found my oldest U.S. coin ever, a bent 1889 (I believe) Indian Head cent. I had my first two silver coin day finding a 1943 Mercury dime and a 1954 Roosevelt dime. I also had my best "pocket spill" so far with the Mercury, a D mint Buffalo nickel and a 1942 Lincoln Cent. Here are the coins as they came out of the ground. They are now soaking as I prepare to clean them. I'll share photos of them once they are cleaned up. I can't tell yet if the Buffalo has a date or not. Paul Bulgerin

I just realized that the second cent from the left isn't a Wheatie, but a Memorial. I grabbed the wrong "greenie" for the shot. This Memorial was in a two coin spill with a 1956-D Wheat. I found three spills today; 2 coins, 3 coins and 3 coins.

Very nice dirt find. I can't wait to use my detector on my cousins 125 year old house.

I'm not the cause of the Indian's unfortunate condition. I thought about that, but the patina on the coin is all intact.
I'd love to know who bent it, when and why.

Nice haul, Paul!
Woods along the river sounds like a great spot -
When a buddy of mine first started out a few years ago, he detected a spot along the Kalamazoo river. Ended up digging a Barber half and dime. The half had a small "J" stamped on the obverse, the initial of his first name -
