VAM1F This has the long counter-clash mark although I'm having trouble catching it in the photo.

VAM44 - This may be one of those VAMS that revert back to the parent VAM? It has all the markers of 44B but not really seeing the "t" clash.

Thanks for following up Dave ;)

I believe the V1F looks to be the 1F2 - the N clash can be hard to see on some examples and I am sure the toning doesn't help much in that regard. Is your other 1F2 the more of less the same? Neat variety

The other coin does appear to be a V44, and you are correct that in that it's one of them varieties that reverts back to the mother VAM. The V44 series is very interesting because the plain V44 comes in a few different stages - unclashed, clashed, early and late die stages. Some show "beveling" under the TFs on the reverse and some do not. The weird thing is that throughout the progression, the cracks up at BUS of PLURIBUS never seem to change so cannot really be used as a reference of die progression. The VAM 44B has a nice strong T clash and it much more difficult to find. I am not so sure that the V44A exists, as it seems to be a mere duplicate of the V44B, which is strange. Logan's Discovery coin photos show exactly what is seen on the V44B. I guess if one is ever found without the beveling under the TFs that may warrant a 44A designation, but I am wouldn't be surprised if I never find one. Seeing the doubling clashing on the reverse makes me wish there was an earlier stage with a G clash ;)

It's more like thank you for following up. Some of these tricky VAMs tend to spin me around. Wait until 1904-O...

Thanks. I've been reading posts here for quite some time, but have not posted too much. I will try to keep visiting as often as I can, but I tend to focus on 1883-Os more than anything ;) I am enjoying the "28 days" thread, and have too many 1883-Os to post soon I hope..
