My guess it's coated in something, very strange however. Looks fakes upon first impression, but if you probe deeper I don't think it is.

looks fake to me. Color and something about the shape of the edge and denticles

Color is weird, it doesn't look like silver. The design details, however, look OK to me. I'm leaning toward fake.

To me the details look somewhat weak and uneven, especially on the reverse. Look at the first bunch of wreath leaves to the right of the mint mark; they just seem to disappear into the field. The color itself doesn't seem too off, but the dull look together with the details just rub me the wrong way. I'm calling fake. At least the seller accepts returns.

I don't know if it is fake, but it sure is an ugly coin with horrible color. I see coins sort of like this with weird color and I wonder why anyone would want something like this much less pay big bucks for it just because it is CC?

Maybe they just want to have something from the CC mint- when I was younger I almost bought a Seated dime for that exact reason- it looked like roadkill. I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

I know next to zilch about Morgans, but, I am going through and listing coins for an elderly gentleman, he has one very similar to this except it is encircled with a band of metal and has a key chain attached. Not sure if the MM is CC but will look tomorrow. The coin does not look or feel real in any way. The color is off and the 'wear' marks appear to be manufactured. Up close the finish appears powdery and the wear too uniform. I'm thinking this coin in question is from the same lot. JMHU.

The coin you are talking about has been mounted in a piece of jewelry, which means that even if the coin is real, the edges are probably damaged.
