I received today a new coin.Wenn I saw it at first ,I was thinking it was a Seleucid coin, but it appeared to be one of the Roman Augustus, struck 21/20 BC .
obv: diademed head right
rev: basileos philippou / epiphanou philadelphou , Zeus sitting left with Nike in righthand and scepter in left, before his legs monogram ANT , in exergue :thete kappa
mint : Antiochia ad Orentem , 29° year=21/20 BC
14.41 gr , 26 mm ,Prieur 22 .
very fine.
It is a coin struck by Augustus with synonym Philippos Philadelphos.I knew this coins existed , but I never saw.I like the Seleucid tetradrachms very much for the portraits, but most of time they are more expensive than the €75 (about $85) I ve paid .albert

It's a very nice coin. What are the indications that it was struck by Augustus, it looks like a typical coin struck by Philippos?

Here is one of mine.

Not sure about the type, but looks exceedingly good value... a 2000 year old coin with half an ounce of silver for less than $100 can't be a bad thing and yours does have eye appeal. Good pick up I say.

I think it is this one, and though it might have been made during the time of Augustus, it is Philippos Philadelphos depicted on the coin.

Antioch, Roman Provincial Syria, Re-Issue of Philip Philadelphos Coinage, 47 - 16 B.C.

in the initial phases of creating a province on the ruins of the Syrian Kingdom, the Romans kept the old monetary system, the coins of this era being almost exact replicas of those of the last Seleukid King Philip Philadelphos.

Echizento :I think you have to check the date on the coin to know by whom it was struck. On my Augustus coin the date is year 29.The Macedonian Seleucid era begins in 312 BC , so the year 29 can not be in the reign of Philippos Philadelphos.I don t see a date on your very nice tetradrachme , neither on my Phil.coin , so maybe only the Augustus coins are dated.
Arnoldoe : also a very nice coin , with a date in exergue .I see a lambda = 30° year = 20/19 BC.For the monogram , your coin is better than mine , the combination is :ANTX : A left under , N the lower part , T at right and X : all the monogram without the T.albert
