My buddy was doing the 'buy paydirt via mail' kick for awhile. Cigarette pack sized boxes for $25. I don't think he's worked any of it yet. There's always a sucker.

I have purchased paydirt twice, it is a fun thing to do
when weather changes to cold and you want to hone panning
skills. There are a lot of different suppliers, some
better than others. Good for those who may be house-
bound or restricted by local geology (ie have to travel
far for gold in the ground). I pan on the beach
recreationally but in December in Canada, not really
conducive to being out in the bush. Bought it for a lark
and had fun. See pics.

This shot is from my first purchase, more pickers, less
fine gold. Caribou area of the Fraser Valley in British
Colombia. About 1/2 gram of gold (about 30 bucks worth)
for $25 for a 1 pound bag, shipping $15, not making money
but having fun. Second time only .3 grams. They also
throw in some gem stones that are fun to look at. Agate,
amethyst, pyrite, tourmaline.

I am a bit of a sucker for shiny things, a bit crow like.

Oh yeah, there's a market for that stuff. Next you will see the spin offs. After searching for gold, it can be resold to search for diamonds. Then fossils, uranium, moon rocks and clues to the JFK murder.

I got a few bags of boogers (pokemon goo... very trendy!) and several used diapers. If interested, send me a PM!

Reminds me of those Gem Mining tourist attractions where you buy a big bucket of dirt with colored glass someone put into each and then the kids get to pan through it. Ridiculously expensive and yes, I spent the money for my kids when they were little because the wanted to do it soooooo bad. As in, c'mon dad, pleeeeeeease?

I drew the line however when they wanted to do it again the next night.

Been going on for YEARS. And as Chute72 said, although I'm not sure he meant it, you can also buy unsearched dirt/gravel and search for gemstones.

They just took a few cubic meters of dirt from my yard. I think I'll keep it and sell it on the internet, telling people to look for 'Viking age remains' in my unsearched dirt. It's probably the best value I can get for it.
