I have 2 different 1970's which to me looks as though
the s is spaced differently? Are they small dates, large
dates? I'm very confused when trying to determine which
is which?

Mint marks were added to working dies by hand until 1989, so they could be almost any where or any shape.

Wow by hand that's interesting. I never knew that.
Do you know if they're large dates or small dates?

Thank you Fuzzy317. The second one has me wondering. I'm trying to get a clearer picture of that one.

Thankyou Fuzzy317. Yeah he said there was more than one die for the small date, and
when I looked at the two of these the S appears to be in the middle more so than under the nine
like the first one? Also the loop on the 9 looks to me anyway that it's pointing more towards
the middle rather than down. I tried lining it straight across but I have no idea if I'm just looking
for something that probably isn't even there. The first one the s is more under the 9 and it appears
the loop on the 9 is pointing down. I am embarrassed to say I just don't know lol.

Asking about that you don't know, is the best way to get an answer.

Thank you Coop. I think I got it now. They
are both large dates because the tail of the 7 goes below the 1 and the 0. I was all confused with the mint Mark being high up on one and low in the other.
