I would appreciate comments about this coin that was my deceased uncle's. I know these are commonly counterfeit or fake, but I do think this one is silver. Here's what I've measured:
Diameter -- 39.3 mm
Thickness -- 2.5mm
Weight -- 26.38g
Specific Gravity --10.185
Interaction with a moving rare earth magnet -- it reacts like my other higher silver content coins, moving as the magnet moves along near it.

I've included observe, reverse, and two edge pictures. Thanks for any input.

First off, welcome.

From the data you've provided, I'd say there's a pretty high probablity it's genuine. The photos would have to be larger (particularly as to the edges) to make any further assessment. Of course, even if authentic, its collectibity is greatly diminished by the hole, although that may have proved convenient for taking the measurement of its specific gravity.

James, welcome to our forum. A brief look to this coin and your data provided, I agree this is a real coin. But if you could post the larger pictures of it, it would be a valuable chance for us to study a heritage coin. A coin with a poor hole on it would have a less chance to be fake. Just by my common sense.

Thank you Lucky and Wong for your comments. Here are bigger pictures I was able to do with my scanner. I noticed something that makes me suspicious. Carlos' image is worn, especially around the collar. But the edge of his silhouette at his chin, neck, and chest do not seem very worn. Your additional comments will be appreciated.

No problem, a normal wearing and circulating coin to me. It is real.

Buy the BOOK before the COIN. Go to Amazon Books and purchase Gurney's book on Contemporary Counterfeit Eight Reales.

Just a recommendation when making more purchases in the future. It will help in your decision-making.
