I need some answers on this cool find. Is this a double strike and can it be worth some money. The first image shows on the nose a double strike. The second picture is the I.
The third shows clearly on the neck. The fourth is the 2. You might need to zoom in to see it clearly. Thanks for your help.

Appears to be Machine Doubling. Evil cleaning.

It is Machine Doubling. Almost on every other strike. Worthless and the cleaning makes the coin worth a lot less.

Indeed an evil cleaning. Essentially is's a cull and worth little more than melt value even though it's a dollar.

Too bad, the coin wouldn't be that bad if it hadn't been destroyed by cleaning.

While not an expensive variation, it is a nice example of Machine Doubling. Sometimes the explanation of the difference between Machine Doubling, double striking and die doubling is enhanced with an example such as this. Its greatest value may be in a teaching aid. And remember, there is no such thing as a bad coin - though I've been known to push the envelope.
