I have always loved the 1839 issues... Its not the best around - but its very nice - the images are terrible - as they are scans - I'll have a friend reimage it for me later. The surfaces are very smooth and no mentionable distractions and I couldn't be more pleased with it. Now, I'll seek out a Silly Head - and the other varieties of 1839. Nothing major - just a neat sub-type set.

Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of with that coin. Nice in all respects. I had to have a set of the 1839's too. They make such a neat looking subset when they are displayed together. Best of luck finding other varieties that are as nice as the one you have here.

Nice coin. Was this variety (as well as Silly Head) caused by the use of a different hub?

Gorgeous example of the variety; looks to be M-LDS based on the denticles.

That is a really nice booby head! I've got all the redbook/dansco varieties except the 39/6 plain cords. Getting a hold of one of those is going to be tough, definitely one to separate the men from the boys so to speak

Nice, honest wear... saw SOME use but not a huge amount.

Now the problem is to determine which of the 7 Booby head varieties it is. (5 are common, 1 is very scarce, and 1 is very rare.)
