Light wear on the high points like Liberty's breastplate and the eagle's breast feathers and left leg, definite friction and luster loss in the fields. Looks solid for AU-55.
Nice pictures, very sharp and detailed!

AU-58 seems spot on to me, slightest wear.

Hey guys, I have been following this thread but haven't gotten around to replying. First of all, thanks for all of your opinions! But with more information, comes more questions. I'm very pleased at the grades you guys have given, but I'm a bit confusing as far as luster, and toning go. First of all, why is this coin so white if it's circulated? Has it been dipped? Shouldn't an AU coin have toning, and mint state coins are more white? If there is wear on the coin, wouldn't there be fingerprints and stuff like that, even if someone handled it 50 years ago? Do people just have rolls of these coins that somehow have prevented toning, and they just pop out of the roll, sell them on ebay, and then the coin begins to tone once the new owner deals with it? I guess there are a lot of scenarios that affected the toning life cycle which I do not understand yet

My opinion is you will usually notice finger prints on a brilliant uncirculated coin then on a coin that's been circ. The lack of luster on you coin is from hands, fingers, and fabric from one person to the next. your views on toning are a little off. A gem brilliant unc. coin can have lots of original toning or no toning at all. As with an AU coin can have some degree of toning or none at all. Environmental issues contributes to all of our coins. that's the difference between your coin and others. IMHO !
