Would like your thoughts on this Wheat cent. Pretty funky rim waffle type pattern so I don't know if this is considered a Cud possibly a wrong die punch (sorry don't know what it is called)

Looking forward to your responses.

Full coin shot front and back might help. My first thought is a former Encased Coin, like a lucky penny.

A Cud by definition cannot have a symmetrical pattern. It's a chipped off side piece of a die that was overused used to the point of failure or had a metallurgical flaw. My first thought is vice or plier damage from the pattern but yes, full pics are needed

Thanks, I can't wait to my first "great find" reply (someday)

I would still like confirmation on the little bit of letter doubling on the coin.

Is it MD - I am trying very hard to learn how to see the differences in the various types of doubling that I see in the coins.

Thank you all.
