I am probably going to send this out to be authenticated, but opinions on grade to give me an idea of what I have would be appreciated.

VF30. Position and shape of mint mark appear to be correct.

XF-40. Don't be so critical, eric!

I'd use some verdicare on the obverse.

This is the type of coin that is strongly affected by market grading.
Think a bit higher than your first impression.

i just go by what PCGS or NGC will grade it its a beautiful coin but the top grading services will point any problems out especially on a key date

i agree that key dates are usually graded a bit higher than other years. I don't think the small imperfections on this coin would keep it from a straight grade.

I'm at EF-40 as well. Three diamonds, full shield, textbook to me. Nice example.
Rest in Peace

VF-25 , Bad scratch on reverse .Too much all around wear for EF-40.Should get a straight grade.
Oh yeah , Verdi-care both sides.

The reverse scratch will either details it or net-grade it down to a VF from an XF.

I'll say XF40. Don't think reverse scratch is bad enough to warrant details grade
