I'll take a guess now and see how it compares to the more experienced.

VF20 maybe VF30 on a good day.

Cheers, Bill

From your images it doesn't appear to have been cleaned.
Great looking reverse with much remaining lustre, the obverse has let this coin down a bit with some wear and bag marks.
I would say XF45, Nice coin and one of my favourite Canadian denominations .

I have a date set of these from 1937-2015

I believe they're just carbon spots, often brought out after dipping - market acceptable, but not pretty.

EF and NOT cleaned.

Probably dipped though, but I consider the two completely different processes.

These coins really need to be graded for each side, the reverse nearly always grades higher than the obverse.

The are a large number of high points in the reverse design and they are evenly spread all over the reverse. Together, the help to make the reverse more resistant to wear.

Even so, the master die for the King's image is more sharply cut for Canadian coins than for British coins or other British Commonwealth Coutries.

The New Zealand Half Crown for the George V1 series has a differential grading pattern similar the the Canadian 50 Cents. Same obverse and Reverse designers. Obv. by Hugh Paget, rev. by Gruger Gray.

EF40 / AU55.

CHD: canadian standards, #1 spots for wear on details #2 the fields for "cleanliness" ...

Just throwing this out there but what's the possibility this coin could be slightly convex/concave?

It looks like there's some lustre remaining around the rim, but it is all gone in the fields and there seems to be some wear in the hair...

Looking at the wear in the hair I would've said VF... but with the lustre on the coin it SHOULD grade EF

(I think to be conservative and I think that what I might see as lustre is really just too much lighting.. I'm going to go with VF 35)
