I asked the seller for more pics at different angles, so he added rotated pics So I thanked him, but said I wasn't looking for rotated pics, but asked if he could possibly take some photos at different angles, with different lighting to show the surface better Yeah, I agree, why would the seller use your pics that could have a paper trail? There are lots of random photos of coins out there he could use. But then again most crooks aren't the brightest bulbs in the pack. Seller just got positive feedback on a raw gold coin that got 60 bids.

justin3651, yes I considered that the others could be an elaborate ruse just for the high-dollar fakes. I'm just not buying this whole scenario though. Bobby's question needs to be answered specifically. I'm not flagging a seller over what's been presented here so far. The pictures are pretty good and nobody has said it's fake, so to me that scenario isn't likely.
"I can't imagine why he would lie to me" - what lie is involved here? Did he specifically say that he still has the coin and isn't reselling it? Or was he just evasive?

I'm interested to see what happens here, but I suspect that the original coin was resold before being put on Craigslist.

That coin looks great, if, if, if. Some of our more knowledgeable members need to stroll through the listings of this seller and get a 'feel' for them. A forensic analysis of each coin and it's TPG pedigree could prove or disprove the allegations. But it might be $10 worth of time on a 10 cent problem. Whatever happened to the cent ideogram? Anyway, it's ebay and I hope they sweat in Heck.

edweather, as far as I can tell all the pictures currently on the listing are unique. The "rotated" obverse one shows different scratches/dots in the fields and the rest are all slightly different angles and lighting. I didn't save the original listing but weren't there just two slab pics and two closeups before? Of course, we'll need a hostage photo before we have proof of anything relating to the "stolen photo" scenario.
I've spent my $20 on this 10 cent problem. :)

Edweather, that does reinforce my suspicions about the seller.

kbbpll, gosh you are right, they are unique photos. So that means the seller does have the coin, right?
...and yes there were just two slab photos and two closeups in the original listing, the seller added the rest after I asked him to.

This is just so insane. I sent pictures from my phone so I am trying to retrieve them. I can't find any on my computer. What I have thought about doing is asking the guy I sold it too to send me new pictures to prove he has it but I do not want to make him think he might be lying. What I do not get is WHY LIE? If the guy sold it or is the ebay seller himself....what do I care? It is his to sell. I sent an ebay message asking for new pictures and I got the EXACT same answer about the camera being 'low'. This is all so weird. I can't tell if my coin is being used as a scam or if I am dealing with morons. Heck might be both.

Unless the seller has a treasure trove of photos from the OP and just posted the rest, and that's why seller's camera "level is very low", but OP so far is silent on what photos they took. Like I said, we need a hostage photo. Stay tuned I guess. I looked up a couple of the seller's other cert #s and they checked out. One thing I can't believe at this point is that the seller just slapped together the best counterfeit slab and coin ever off some Craigslist photos.
Sorry hoosiergator your post got in between. I guess we have camera issues on both sides now. Perhaps you can appreciate the conundrum from the casual observer's perspective... :(

Right now the only one who has provided extra photos is the current ebay seller. He appears to have the coin. Why is that so hard to believe? And like I asked in the beginning, and you even asked yourself, "Why do you/I care?" Why did the guy lie to you?....maybe he was suspicious after buying a coin, and then getting a strange (in his opinion) phone call. Probably scared him. Ultimately doesn't matter, and unless someone comes up with a new revelation, this ship has sailed.

I would be suspicious of someone asking me if I have a coin too after buying said coin from them, so it could be that.

This isn't your coin anymore as you keep referring to it, it used to be, but it isn't now! Why do you care? I've sold many coins and could care less who has them now or what they do with them. Just my humble opinion.
