Wondering-If-These-Are-Errors

I found these going through some coins. Are these errors or damage?

1: is Post Mint Damage ( PMD)
2: is a slightly Grease Filled Die. These get interesting when entire letters or design features are missing due to grease filling the die

Regarding the second cent I would add that there appears to be some Mechanical Doubling east of Lincoln's nose. No added premium value.

I've been researching a lot of the coins I have found and it is difficult to distinguish some of the errors. I also found the State Quarter kansas with In God We Rust.

IN GOD WE RUST could be the result of an over-polished die. It could also be the result of a grease-filled die.

Post some pics in a new thread and someone will let you know for sure. I'm not sure I could tell what caused it -- so I'd be interested in reading that thread.

Everything I've read has said it's an error. They are selling for about $100 on ebay.

Folks come across a variety of coins/denominations with missing details. As noted, over-polishing the die is a main culprit as are grease impacted details. There are premiums for these coins where the missing details ae exaggerated, but for the most part, no premium. And to collect a premium, you have to find the right collector. Prices asked aren't what people are getting for these coins (Texas quarter). Some still fetch a decent premium though, but aligning the buyer with the coin is the trick.
