NOTE TO WHEEZY:
If you are reading this, you know more about Jeffersons than anybody I know! Is there a really obvious RPM on the 1954S? One I pulled on that last update is well worn, but there are obviously two serifs on the upper part of the S. If you want a photo I will try to provide upon request.

Hey, I do not know a whole lot about rpms, I just know a good nickel when I see one and what makes it worth hanging onto and considering it a prized catch. I know a bit about which are tough finds and which are common. I am sure there are some people on here that know a lot more than me about nickels. I just might act like a bigshot with the series sometimes. I hope not though, I don't mean to come off that way. I would think if you are familiar with what a true rpm ( repunched mint mark ) is and the difference between it and machine or Mechanical Doubling and die wear and deterioration, you probably do have what you think you have. Look at this interesting page I did find now. There are two rpms shown for 1954 S and they can be enlarged. http://varietynickels.com/pages/jef...946-1989.phpI have bookmarked some pages on rpms varieties and other odd stuff but I am not organized there. Maybe you can take a good picture and post it, maybe somebody has a link they can post to a good webpage for a list of what is out there. Maybe, you can contact Brian Ribar who knows a whole ton more than I do about these and I do think he is a member on this forum. You can maybe get a credit for a discovery with him and Mr. Wexler if you found something new. I write to him now and then. My email is down right now. All of us with this ISP in this area can't get email. Glad you are back on the neh.. neh.. neh.. nickels kick!

Thanks Wheezy!
Unfortunately, nothing new, as mine definitely matches number 1 of the two photos that you sent me. Even with the wear of this coin the split serifs show clearly. Thanks again!
And Cole,
I just picked up two more boxes, so there should be another update tomorrow!

Nice find just the same. Thanks for the picture and for your return to the quest of looking at 1,000,000 nickels. 25,000 x 40 in a roll is a million isn't it? That is maybe a Guinness Book of World Records issue.

That is the whole point, to go through a million! Need to mention that I won't be around to go through the two boxes I bought tonight, but I am looking forward to tomorrow! In one of the boxes all of the rolls are wrapped in clear shrinkwrap, and there looks to be a number of Silver nickels. In fact, one of them is at the end of a roll with the reverse facing up (an "S" mint). Should be fun!

How are the eyes holding up? You realise you have me hooked on this series now? Not that I am complaining mind you, I am still over the moon at winning your competition.

Holy cow thats alot of nickels. Just curious, what do you do what all of them? Are you putting together lots of sets? or just amassing a horde of old nickels?
Very impressive, and you're well on your way to 25000. =)

What do you intend to do with all the pre59 coins you find?

meck19,
So far I have someone who has purchased all of the pre-59 coins I have found (except ones that I have kept for sets, semi-keys, and Silver nickels). And, he wants more of them! And, I still have about 20 rolls to go to complete the next 100 rolls, and even though there were not as many silver ones as I had thought there would be, there were some.
Dnickels,
Everything post 1958 goes to my dump bank (they really love me!!). The pre-59's see above.
Latman100,
My eyes do bother me after awhile, but gotta keep plugging away! And, I hope you are enjoying your Jefferson set; bring a little US collecting to Australia!
