If it ever becomes legal to melt coins down I'm going to pull all the 64's I can out of circulation and melt them just because I hate finding them!

25,000 rolls?! I just went through my first five rolls a couple days ago which was a fun change from cents. I found a 1942 and a 1951 which was mildly exciting. It was nice to be able to fill some holes in my coin folders.

I feel like I'm taking a big step up moving from cents to nickel rolls. Today I went through ten rolls and the funniest thing I found was a golden token from "CineMark: the best seat in town! No cash value." It has a cat on the reverse (obverse?). LOL!

I also found 1938 and 1939 nickels, and what looks like a 1998 D/D. I need to do more research on that one.

Gothic Florin,

I post updates as I open rolls. I have probably opened 3500 of the rolls during calendar year 2009 (that is just a ballpark guess)

I just checked this thread out, it's very interesting. I've been hunting nickels for a while now, and I've managed to put together almost an entire set from 1938-1961 entirely from circulation. The only dates that I still need are the 1938-S, 1942-P silver and of course the 1950-D. I doubt I'll ever find the 50-D, but it'd be nice! I think I'll start saving those 51-S's as well.

In this post from 1-3-09, you had opened 6900 rolls. 10200 minus 6900 is 3300 rolls since Jan 3 2009. Good guess!

hrhomer,

That was a wild guess, too! It actually is 3500 now, as I have two updates to post. Thanks for the confirmation.

I just pulled 3 War Nickels out of 40 rolls today. Most were customer rolled rolls from several local banks. Needless to say, I was ecstatic.By the way, all of you guys keeping statistics finally got to me so I started also. I will report in when I reach 300 rolls(which will probably be tomorrow or Sunday).
