My son got back from college a week ago. We did our first box tonight. He found a 1945S.

1 box of nickels,

1917 Buffalo, 2 1939, and my first 2015 nickel but it is pretty beat up so I will have to keep looking for one for my album.

Today's $100 in MWRs yielded better than average for me:

1939s (my first after $4,100 searched)
1940s
1941s
1944p (war)
1947s
1948s
1952s
1959d (AU with full steps)
1960 AU
1961 AU
1988s (proof)

1973 CDN
1994 Swedish 1 Krona (worth 12 cents USD)

Very nice berto!

Lots of S Mint nickels...I would have enjoyed that box for the 2015 project.

Rackster, I was really happy with the results. I have another $100 in MWRs to look through next I can make time, then it'll be time to place another order. Life in summer is busier than Winter, especially with 3 kids in the house. Kids are my priority because they'll be gone one day whereas coins will still be around :)

I just got done with my worst box ever. (My son was asleep.) There were very few nickels before 1960, and only one before 1953. No keepers. They were MWRs, but it felt liked they'd been looked through before.

Jon, I've had boxes like you described. It seems every third one is as you described. I know you'll keep at it just as I will!

Jon - my exact thoughts on box 10 this year. Hopefully the next one will make up for the stinginess of the last one.

Mendelman - not too bad; finding a piece of silver in a full box would make me happy. Any high grade, post '60 nickels worthy of mention? Any RPMs or DDs?
