$40 CWR nickels - keepers were 45-S, 53-S, 54-S and a decent looking 2004-D Keelboat lowball (VG/G).

To date, I have found only 1 1953-D out of the $352 I have searched so far.

That's interesting Numisma. It's the largest production for the date. Over the past couple of years, it's interesting to see what folks have had trouble/limited success finding while others have bonanzas. Location perhaps.

Yes, there are some odd patterns in my finds. For example, I have found three 1955 nickels (1 P, 2 D) while I have not found a 1956 from either mint, and I have gotten more S mint coins from the forties (10) than D mint (7).

My last two boxes were skunks. My record skunk run has been three boxes in a row on several occasions.
This kind o relates to the last couple of posts. You have to do massive numbers of boxes/rolls before you find the coins you want.

Wow! Interesting pattern. I suspect you'd find many more S and D than I would here being on the East Coast. I readily find the 1956 P and D nickels and only hang onto the very best I find. But I see other folks out on your coast finding 1938S and 1939S; just unfair!  |

went to pick up a box I ordered and found out they gave half my box to jack in the box because they forgot to order. so I got half a box of bwr and half are crw. will see which one turns out the best.

Picked up 5 rolls at the bank for the fun of it. Just a few well worn 40's & 50's but there were three rolls that looked long. Sure enough one had 43 and two had 42. 35 free cents. Woo-hoo!

But like the second from last to find 1938S once you find the first one once you do they start to come out of the woodwork. I just picked up another Dansco album 4th string to fill and going through just a quarter of the $300 face of pre 1955-P nickels I set aside (I used to keep 1959 and older but realized I had $100 worth of 1956-1959 alone) I have around 15 of them now and 4 1938-S all found within 9 months this year. |

For my first box and a half I kept pre-1968, but I was getting so many 1964-D that I dumped everything 1960 and later. Somebody's going to get a box that has three solid rolls of 1964-D. Quote:

It's an extraordinarily weak strike just like they all are, but it's still a 55, so I'm happy. My 2 55-D are both fairly nice. Has anyone here actually seen a 55 with full steps? Do they even exist? I've found a few full steps coins from the forties- 1947, 1946-D, 1948-S to name a few. |

I searched through a Nickel box for the first time in a while and I found a partial date 1920 Buffalo, three Canadian nickels, and a 1 Ruble coin from Russia.
