I only allow myself one Pepsi in the morning. Any more than that and I am too jittery to be effective.

I usually drink an "Energy" Vitamin Water in the morning... Yes, it has caffeine... later in the day I'll usually drink a can of Dr. Pepper. I don't get jittery from caffeine, thankfully.

The funny thing is that I can get away with more later in the day, it is just in the mornings. But one is just enough to get me going, especially after my morning walk. I suppose that is a good thing, more cost effective.

Now that I have us sideways, back to the nickels!

Fun find John. I found a No FS right away...but not another since. In fairness, I don't look for it though unless I have a higher grade 1990D.

Beginners luck I suppose.

Thanks, Rackster... Yeah, I've got my eyes trained to look at that area on 1990-D coins... They are VERY difficult to find. I just wish Cherrypicker's would finally get it listed. I don't understand why it doesn't get the same respect as other similar overpolishing varieties.

I didn't know about the 1990-D no FS variety, which is unfortunate since I've noticed an abnormally high number of MS coins of that date. I guess I'll start looking.

Yeah, it's a very cool variety, Numisma... I now own 10 of them (sold one several months ago)...

Meanwhile, first roll of today was a beauty! 5th 39-S I have tallied in 8 1/2 months!

John - Nice finds of late and great stat recap. You are killing me with the 39S finds. I will be back in the hunt soon.

Thanks, jbuck and Nickelitus... LOVE finding these...

So I went back in this afternoon... got 30 rolls from two banks... and would you believe I found another pre-40 mintmarked Jefferson? Like the '39-S, this '38-S came out of some String&Son rolls... different bank entirely though. This is my 2nd one this time around, third in my lifetime!

Thanks, jbuck! Me too! Hopefully there is a 50-D lurking out there looking to find me soon!

Finding a 50-D would certainly justify all of your hard work to any doubter.

Sure would, jbuck!

Well, since the banks are closed tomorrow, I decided to buy 2 boxes worth of nickels today. A box from my main bank, and 1/2 box each from two others... They yielded a total 28 pre-60s including 1920 (very hard to read date) and 1927 Buffalos, a 1945-S (my 80th War Nickel - so two rolls found now), a 2009-P, and 3 2009-Ds... A very successful day! I also bought a box of dimes, a box + $10 of pennies from the same banks... hoping for some good stuff in those 6,000 coins... as I search them tonight and into tomorrow.

I recently came across another mini collection dump, this time mixed into a fairly large batch of exclusively machine-wrapped nickels.

The finds literally started pouring out of the rolls as soon as I began to open them. From the outset, I encountered a higher-than average number of pre-1960 nickels, as well as a welcome Buffalo nickel. I kept at it, and was quite happy to find a War Nickel too.

When I stumbled upon a 2nd Buffalo nickel, I decided it was high time head back to that bank! Just to be on the safe side, I purchased every last roll of machine-wrapped nickels they had on-hand.

The interesting finds continued on into the 2nd batch of nickels, although I only found 1 more Buffalo nickel (and no more War Nickels).

The overall finds for the day are as pictured. I ultimately went through a total of 65 nickel rolls.
