Gothic Florin:  Ratman you are absolutely a machine! I am roughly 3 1/2 to 4hrs for a box and then my back and neck start go crazy. Last night I was slowed by the Hawkeyes victory on TV but made it thru half a box. Pulled a 50cent piece from Kenya. Now thats one I dont have... |

went through a box yesterday, my wife found a 55. it was her first "find" I think she gets it now. The 55 filled a hole, 8 more to go. 38S, 39 D and S and 48 D, the rest War Nickels. There were like 44 million 48 D's not sure why its so hard to find. Might go through my bag of oldies and see if I just missed it. |

Your buffalo herd may have meandered to the Midwest Ratman, out of my last 3 boxes I've pulled two of 'em.  |

my box before this I found 2 buffalo's and a silver, last box nothing. but the 55 made it worth it. It seems the brinks boxed always has way more buffalo's and V's

Interesting side note, was at my bank picking up two more boxes yesterday and the guy behind me asks what I'm doing with those. I told him I was a collector and my son and I go through them and commented that you can find some pretty old stuff in them that I've found a few Buffalo nickels. The teller says, you want those? We get those in all the time. There was a line so I didn't want to press her for favors at that time, but I'm definitely gonna have to broach that subject with her again. |

Today 110 rolls (2 Brinks boxes and 10 rolls) and yes my hands got really dirty.
First box was pretty good (the kind that spoiled me) because I got it from my half dollar dump bank and I don't usually buy coin from them. It was probably in the vault for a few weeks. As you know my regular sources of nickels haven't impressed me lately.
1st box, 1910 Liberty, 2 Buffalo (1936, dateless) 1945D War, 1962 UNC, 1971S Proof
2nd box, 1942D
48 other pre 1960 from the 110 rolls.

Hello Gentlemen and Ladies, Been reading you guys for a while and just got started roll searching in December. So far I've gone through 5 Brinks boxes and about half a box worth of hand rolls. Have twenty one slots remaining in my Whitman. I envy you Buffalo hunters out there. I had one in my first box (the first one's free as they say) and have yet to hit another. Can't complain, though, as I've been lucky with the War Nickels netting 10 so far. I'm happy to join you lot and look forward to reading more about your incredible circ finds! Thanks Troy |

Finished a box last night. Pulled 22 pre 1960 which included a couple plugs for my album: 42D, 49S and a dazzling 38. Am 0 for 4 for boxes with a buffalo.  |

 Welcome Pinenut! I know what you mean about those War Nickels! For awhile the Brinks boxes were giving them up! (In one 4 week period I grabbed 34 Wars from Brinks as well as 17 buffalo and a Liberty). Around here the pickings have been pretty much died down. Today 100 rolls (2 String boxes). 1939 UNC, 1945D war and a 1949S. 38 other pre 1960. |

Went through 1 box and 50 customer rolls, 100 rolls; 0 bufflaos; 0 wartimers; 0 proof; Key and semi-keys: 1x38  ; 1x42D;1x48s  ,1x50; Filled two holes 5 more to go: 38s,39s,45p,45d,50d. Total searched: 1500 rolls.  Edited by Yinzi50

Went through 30 rolls,20 Brinks and 10 customer wrapped and got 2 common War Nickels, a 1939 in AU/MS condition(it needs a good acetone soak to remove some gunk but looks like it could be MS)and 14 other common pre-1960's. I have started throwing back 57 DS,58D and 59D unless they are AU or better. Pickings are getting slimmer around here. Quality seems to be better but raw numbers are lower,especially for keys and semi-keys. |
