David,
Thats a nice way to start a box. I have a pic of a 43 P on the end of a roll from yesterday and cannot figure out how to attach it to my message.
Peace

David, last night I found a 38 S and a 40 P. The 40 has 3 to 4 steps still intact with something stuck on Jefferson hair about the size of 1/10 rasin. Else the coin is AU.

Thanks AFC and David the pic is too large and will work on it later today.
Peace

Jedichef,

Here is a photo of the reverses of a 1941s Small S and a 1941s Large S.

I picked a 1942P War Nickel out of the register today. First silver nickel I've managed to get ahold of in quite some time

Did a box of nickels(Brinks wrapped) and found NOTHING worth talking about. No buffaloes,no wars, no proofs, only a few badly battered 57 D's 58 D;s and 59 D's which all got sent back to the wild. I did keep a couple of badly worn 1940's but it was the worst box I have ever searched. Seems I am finding less and less old stuff and the new stuff is all scraped up from coin rolling machines and coin counters. I know that there are good days and bad days roll searching but the last few boxes have been sub-par from what I was getting regularly 6 months ago. I guess all the coin jar dumping has stopped and it is musical nickels from here on out(you know,as in musical chairs they just keep circulating among us and we keep throwing them back).

Sorry hockingzig, but I just finished my best box so far. It was a Brinks that had 4 pre-60s on the end of rolls. I found 38 pre-60, including 24 unique dates/MMs. It would have been a fantastic box for a new collector to start with as they would have filled half a book from it. Here's the list:

39P, 40D (3), 41P (3), 42P, 47D, 48P (2), 48D, 49P, 50P (filled a hole), 52S/D/P, 53P/S, 54D (4), 55D, 56P, 56D (2), 57P, 57D (2), 58D (2), 59D (5) and 59P.

Box down...

20 pre 60's so was a marginal box however no complaints. I was able to fill a spot with the 51S and also pulled a nice 42D.

How can I forget, another "95 beaver from our neighbor up north.

Have a super weekend all!

I found some a couple dozen 1982 and 1983 in mint condition going through about 25 dollars worth of nickels last night, not a huge find but it got me stoked.
