If your bank still requires this, I would seriously think about banking elsewhere. Found some in my latest 5000 cents. Looked the name up in the phone book and sure enough it's local. All I would have to do is find out where you do your banking, and it's not that hard, and your account is wide open to me.

That's scary. My bank requires the coins to be loose to cash them in or deposit them so luckily it's not an issue for me.

When I get customer-wrapped, the bank tellers usually blacken out the account number if there is one on there. That is nice to see, but I tell you that I can still make out the account number on some rolls, so it is not foolproof. On the other side, when I bring rolls in, they usually want my account number on all of them and I have complied, but now I'm not sure I would do so. Definitely do not put BOTH your name and account number on the rolls wehen you deposit them.

Still, I don't think you could do business at the bank (withdraw money, for example) without your driver's license. So even if you had someone's name, address, phone number and account number, I don't think you can empty their bank account without a driver's license. My dad works for driving licensing and it is very very hard to make a fake driver's license look like the real one's anymore- there are so many watermarks, etc. And lwet's say for the sake of argument that you happen to be successful. I think you will be caught in no time- cameras are everywhere in banks.

I've stopped bringing rolled coins my bank for that reason. Now I just use the coin machines at the bank.

Never pay for anything by check. If you do they now have your name address, account number and bank routing number. So your account is now wide open to them too.

Never pay for anything by credit card or debit card either! Now they have your name, credit card number and the card expiration date. Oh my god they can clean you out!

Oh and the sky is falling as well.

I find the practice rediculous. I could immagine having the account number, but you put the name with it, and that is dangerous.

I use 5 different banks and have never had to show a driver's license. Probably not empty an account but sure do a lot of damage. Note the fantastic amount of identity thefts now in the millions a year. What good are the cameras in a bank when most use this info at stores? Watermarks? Your kidding. Who at a store would have the slightest idea of a watermark? Most people at a typical store are in a hurry and you could have a dogs face on a drivers license and they wouldn't notice. (Some dogs faces do look like my nighbors)
One, just one, of the biggest scams is to acquire personal information and apply for a credit card with most of the info but have it sent to a different address. Credit card companies are fighting so hard for your buisness, they will send them out to a gorilla at a zoo if he had your personal information.
And pesonal info is really available as long as you have basic info on a person. For example with just the correct spelling of their name and town they live in you go to PEOPLE SEARCH in Google and you can find out their address, phone number, marrital status, how many in the faminly, etc. Then for a few dollars more you can find out massive amounts of info.

If the bank gives your money to someone other than you wouldnt they be responsible? I would give them my name but not my account number. Once they have your name they can look up your account number. Also they have access to your money belive me if they make a mistake and give you to much money they will debit your account. Just make sure your bank has a coin machine and dont worry abought turning in rolls.
