Hi all,
Was advised to move this 1879, Rev of 78 to VAM. I haven't identified any better than that.
Fairly sad looking, Details with several rim dings, but by first of this type.
$12 from a 'We buy Gold' store so anything above that, or more collectible would be a plus.

I'm busy about to go christmas shopping right now. Check yours against the ones in this link. If you've never vamked and don't know how to check date/mm positions I'll jump back in later when I get back if nobody else has

Looks like yours might be one of the 34's if I'm seeing your r as almost fully or "more" broken... it's all about the r in trust to narrow it dowm

Appreciate your comments..
My two first thoughts. Is the 9 open or closed?

Unsure if the r in trust is fully broken, when compared to the photographs I saw in VAMworld..?

Ok, that looks like the second group (partially broken r)

I can't quite tell from the pics due to shadows but I think it's an open 9... If you see a gap between the bulb of the 9 and upper loop then it's an "open" 9... if there is no gap and the bulb is touching the upper loop then it's a "closed" 9

Cascade, I haven't forgotten this.. Still reading up on the VAMS for this date.. and trying to work it out myself, then will get back to you.
Oh and I think my 2 yr old stole my loupe. Can't find it anywhere...

But I do have a question..
What is the definition of top 100 VAM.
Rarest? most interesting? Valuable?

Thanks,

As I understand it. The lists were created in the 90s I believe as a "best of" with standout features that can help non die variety specialists know what to be on the lookout for while cherrypicking. Since then however more vams with awesome features have been found and there is talk that a new list needs to be made up. Today, most of the value adding vams are ones on the lists which are

Top 100
Hot 50
Hit 40
Wow
Elite clashed
Kipton 12

Read all the links on the VW homepage. This should help you understand vamming a little better...

Were you wearing a mask?

Call it just AU50 Details & you still made out like a bandit....

In fact, almost any old Morgan at more or less 75¢ over melt is a steal, let lone a desirable variety such as this.
Colligo ergo sum
