So a little bit of a backstory, I have been a bank teller for a little over 2 years now. In that time, I have found some pretty cool coins. Lots of modern junk silver, wheat pennies, proofs, and even an IHC and a Buff. But the coin I found today was my best one yet.

My favorite thing about my bank is that our boxes of coin come in clear shrink-wrapped rolls, so I can quickly scan the edges when I bust open a box and scan for silver. I have found quite a few silver coins this way. Well today I cracked open a box, and the first thing I see is a shiny silver edge staring right back at me. I crack open that roll, and this is what comes out...

When I pulled this coin out, my jaw absolutely hit the floor. Was in absolute shock that this was the coin staring back at me. 9/10 times I see silver on the edge of a coin, it's either canadian or something that was plated. The few silvers I've gotten have been washingtons. I never in a million years thought I would pull a SLQ out of a roll. And one with a full date at that. This is by far my best coin find ever and I could not be more excited.

The coin finds are nice, but I don't know that they happen often enough to offset all the other BS that is involved with the job, such as dealing with snotty/angry customers all the time. But yeah, days like today make it totally worth it. And I was actually having a really crummy day at work too until I pulled this beauty.

Not all tellers are so astute. Last week, one at my bank passed a 1969 Kennedy half across the counter to me. Only 40& silver, but it was AU.

Congrats on the new job. wouldn't be something if a customer started walking up to your desk with an old looking canvas bag and said " I would like to make a $1,000 cash deposit with these old Morgan dollars " but I'm not sure if you can except them.
