I do believe I saw and participated in a "2015 Numismatic Goals" thread, and it helped me with some focus in my chaotic world. And now 2016 is almost upon us and it's time to set some goals. What are yours?

Here are the early stages of my 2016 goals; they range from straightforward to complex.

Easy:
o Acquire the 2016 Reagan C&C Set
o Add 20 coins to my JFK halves album

Moderate:
o Finish Zimbabwe currency set
o Start an ATB PDSS(S) album
o Finish US 10 cent album (from circulation)

Difficult and/or costly:
o Organization for loose coins
o Au Twain commem (unc or P)
o 5oz Ag bullion / mo
o Finish $1 USN, FRN and SC small note set

As I mentioned, I did this last year and found that it helped me focus on goals and knock them down. I didn't get to everything but it sure helped prioritize things. Same approach to this list. Some of these are pipe dreams and may never happen. And there are several I haven't thought of yet.

Post yours! And good luck on your quests.

More or less in order here is what I would like to accomplish in 2016.

Finish the following:
Kennedy half set (7 coins to go)
Certified 1981 type 2 proof set (2 coins to go; PCGS PF-69)
Lincoln memorial set (6 coins to go)
States quarters set (35 silver proofs to go)
Roosevelt dimes set (6 pre 1964 proofs to go)

Maintain the following:
All current circulating coins and commemorative half dollars including proof and silver proof and ASE

Start the following sets:
Washington quarters 1932 to 1964
Certified 1979 type 2 proof set (PCGS PF-69)
Certified 1979 and 1981 type 1 proof sets (PCGS PF-69)

I have two:

#1 Get the 70 or so coins I have set aside over the last few years sent in for grading.

#2 Finish my Morgan dollar date set Dansco. I need 3 to finish. The 1893, 1895, and a CC to fill the album. I have a line on a well circulated VG10 95 for $325, I may just snap it up.

There is a thread in the US Classic forum...

https://goccf.com/t/247217

But a thread here would be more inclusive.

Appears to be similar to everyone's New Year's Resolutions that almost always fail.

Speak for yourself.

I resolved to put a nice dent in my 7070 want list and I did that in 2015.

I got about 40% of the way through my goals for 2015. But if I hadn't put a list together that I looked at periodically I wouldn't have even gotten that far.

1. I'd like to locate and purchase a nice Classic Head Large Cent.
2. Upgrade a few coins in my type set.
3. Learn more about Ancient Coins and possibly purchase a few.

However I buy the majority of my coins locally so I kind of have to go with what is nice, what is a decent price, and what is available.

Good goals, but they could use more specificity. Gotta keep them straightforward, attainable, and measurable otherwise it's hitting a moving target.

For instance, "Upgrade the 40% silver Ike in my type set to MS-68 or above" or "Identify a book on Ancient Coins, purchase, and read it by June".

I just looked at my goals again and I definitely need to get more specific on some of them.

Good luck!
