iv taken this coin to two different shops and they couldn't tell me what it was. they wanted me to send it in to get graded and whatnot but I figure before I spend 15-20$$ id post here and see if anybody has any clues? its a 1968 dime but the side of the coin is smooth unlike a normal dime and the edges are raised up pretty far (on front and back side) I dont know much about errors so any help would be amazing. sorry for picture quality as I have no camera.

That isn't an error coin. It looks like a Dryer Coin

Yup classic coin caught in a commercial dryer. They do the same thing if you hammer then and rotate them to make rings

to CCF Ryan. I agree with Dryer Coin or a partially spooned coin. Looks like you saved yourself $20 by joining the best coin site on the net. Enjoy.

To be a Dryer Coin, the interior design must be pummeled into mush. The design is clear on both faces. Instead, this coin was altered by rolling and squeezing the edge. Doesn't matter, of course, as it's still a worthless form of damage/alteration.

There is one like it on ebay listed as a Capped Die error, and quite frankly, I'm tired of messaging sellers on fake errors, and having them reply I don't know what I'm talking about...

Instead, I started a CCF Thread on fake currency cutting errors to help educate the new collector so they do not get taken...

I invite all to add fake errors on genuine coins & currency to help the new collector...

I want to keep the thread just for fake errors, not Counterfeits, as that should be a separate Thread...
