This is one of the items that the 'shiller' had bid for and won. Something about the bidding history is peculiar to me. ( 262166494931). Also, note the quantity of bid retractions for him/her over the past few months.

I wish ebay can just delete these accounts and block them from ever participating again. Problem is they just keep coming back. Kinda like the movie Casino with Robert Deniro. "You can ban cheaters from the casino but they keep coming back with fake beards, noses and wigs."

Well, considering the buyer that 999fine referenced we might give the guy a little slack; after all he's only won 8 items. HOWEVER With all that said his high number of bid retractions reduces the 'slack' to negative territory! Not sure what ebay can do about it. I just avoid sellers when I see such activity.

999fine Yes, I would report him. I reported a seller last week who was shill bidding not only on an item I wanted, but going through his listings, was shill bidding on three other items also. I reported all 4 to ebay. ebay does not inform you as to what action it takes, but this seller is no longer shill bidding. Looking at your seller, he is shill bidding on other items also. I would report each one. Good Luck

Thank you for your responses. I ended up being the underbidder on the lot after all.
It's more important to consider how many sales the shill jacked up the prices on than actual "wns" as "wins" are simply unsold lots.
The coin has enough features to make ID easy if listed again.
Here's the sequencte to report shill bidders:
Report item > listing practices > fraudulent listing activities > seller is using other accounts to inflate item price

You can also call ebay and report them under "suspicious behavior." ebay loves hearing about suspicious behavior.

Correct channel to report as this is real and obvious shill bidding

Thank you for this. I was involved in a situation in the past and I couldn't find the appropriate drop down menu, so I ended up calling ebay by phone and received a callback within 24 hrs. As mentioned, ebay does not notify the outcome of their investigations but I did find the person who I spoke with to be helpful and concerned. A collection lot was listed, several bidders participating, eventually auction ended, my bid was 2nd highest but such is life. However the day after the auction ended the same lot, same photo was relisted BIN at $200 higher than the highest bid. It was only then that I noticed the highest bidder also had a history of retractions and no purchases whatsoever, plus was instrumental in jacking up the price for the duration of the auction. I contacted the seller to ask about the lot being relisted, advising my interest was simply because mine was the 2nd highest bid. He claimed the buyer didn't have the money to pay in full but then launched into a vitriolic-filled tirade over people like me all wanting something for nothing plus all the injustices of ebay. The tone of his lengthy communication was so hateful that I felt fortunate to live on the other side of the country because it seemed this person was ready to explode. At that point I decided to report the entire incident. I followed the lot for quite some time as the price dropped lower and lower, eventually to 2/3rds of my bid. Sweet justice and undoubtedly, that was one auction I was very fortunate that I did not win. As a result of that experience, I watch closely the history of other bidders.

Agree with you 100% wildflowerABAfter being stung once by a shill bidder on ebay, I now always check any other bidders history before proceeding to bid. If I am the first bidder, I will check out the other bidders history before rebidding. If I notice any shill bidding, I report it to ebay.

I probably would never have even heard of shill bidding if it wan't for a weekend at Las Vegas a few decades ago when someone who lived there and was connected to our friends took us on a bit of a tour and happened to make a comment...."See that pretty woman sitting at that poker fable, she's a shill." In my innocence, I ask "What's a shill." The answer sure opened my eyes. I've also noticed certain ebay bidders with low star scores, with a bidding history that indicates they're presently bidding mainly on numerous active auction items listed only by that particular seller. I avoid those auctions as well because it would seem the alternative to shill bidders with a retraction history might be instead to continually open up new shill ebay accounts. But I'm not sure if that type of example is reason enough to report to ebay?
