I am requesting your opinion on this Morgan dollar. 1. Is it authentic? 2. Is it problem free? 3. If both 1 and 2, what grade would you give it? Thank you.

I personally vote that its a replica. The dark tarishing looks unnatural.

I agree with Zac, it looks suspicious.

The coin is showing wear to be AU53/55, but does not have the circulation marks in the fields that are consistent with the grade. The coin appears to be staged.

Looks like a cast copy of a real coin - toning and wear pattern are not consistent with apparent grade

Hey, if this coin is fake, I'd be super interested in knowing how you guys can tell just by looking at the picture. I understand that if the coin were to be AU, there should be wear on the breast feathers of the eagle, and clearly there is not. And, the toning on the reverse looks to me like an old cleaning, not necessarily indication of a fake!
Please let me know your thoughts, TTcoins

Looks like the fake I posted a couple weeks ago.

The coin I posted had the dark tarnish. The CC were a different font, coin weighed correct, and the diameter was correct. However my coin was thicker than the authentic Morgans.

The position of the date is in the incorrect position on the fake OP coin. Notice the difference where the 1 in the date lines up with the denticles. Date position on authentic VAM 2 1889CC: Date position on fake 1889CC:
