I've heard the horrid comments about Littleton and similar coin companies. I like to get catalogs.....JUST TO LOOK....NOT TO PURCHASE ! I don't use these catalogs as an "overpriced" source to purchase my coins.......ever......wouldn't think of it and I don't like getting ripped off to line someone else's pocket no matter what the circumstance. But I thought it was worthy enough of a question to post...... IS THERE A COIN COMPANY OUT THERE THAT PUTS OUT A MAGAZINE/CATALOG THAT HAS FAIR PRICES ? And that doesn't "clean" classic coins to get a better grade thus enhancing their value. (which is a rip off too to unsuspecting/unlearned people) So as I look through the catalog, I can confidently order something other than coin collecting supplies, and know that it's a fair market price ! Some feedback on trusted/fair priced companies to order from would be sooooooooo sweeet !

I don't know of any that put out a magazine per say. However, I get the Southpark Coin quarterly that has all of the auctions for hundreds of coins. I have never actually used them for this but do get supplies from them on occasion. Anyone else have any better info? I am kind of curious not as well.

I believe that Miller's Mint puts out a quarterly catalog. Few companies have paper catalogs anymore since listings complete with photos can be placed on a website at a much smaller cost than printing catalogs. http://www.millersmint.com/

I've heard good things about Jack Beymer. Some say his prices are too high but I haven't heard anything bad about his quality or service.
I've been wondering pretty much the same thing and have been kinda looking around the online forums for some opinions on various dealers and he seems to have one of the best reputations so far but then my searching is pretty far from comprehensive and I haven't dealt with him personally so take all that into account.
About the only mail order outfit I've dealt with personally is L&C coins. I ordered a "choice AU" cent, and paid for choice AU, and got a coin with some big nasty spots on the back. To their credit they gave me back all of my money quickly and with no hassle, including the shipping charges, but I was bummed that they would try to sell something like that for the price they charged me.

Jack certainly has some hard to find items, hence the price paid will be a bit high... not that they are high prices, but they are more since hard to find items cost more.....
The Millers are great people and always have a large selection.... also try Angel Dee's, JJ Teaparty for nice selection and fair pricing....

I've never purchased anything from them but once on their list, you keep getting their info. Nice touch. Then there is the controversial https://www.universalcoin.com. The one advertised near the front of the Red Book with all the free offers. If you call them they will put you on their mailing list for some really great information of coins. However, you will have to fight off their phone sales people occationally. Usually just a not now will get rid of them for a while. But good info. Other than than that you must remember asking that is like asking which is the most honest used car dealer, who should I marry, Which movie should I see next, etc. Eveyone has a different opinion and what is good for one may be a real mess for you.

I have bought quite a few coins from Coast-To-Coast coins, and have yet to be disappointed.
I receive a catalog from that company about once a month.

I bought my 09-S VDB from L & C Coins and I'm very happy with them. They send a catalog to you by request. They have one for raw coins and one for certified coins. At the top of their page theres a box that says "free catalog". http://www.lccoins.com/oscommerce/

The " National Collector's Mint, Inc" Is Fair To deal with and you can call them at 1888-4NC-MINT. I ordered a penny set without the keys and none of the coins had been cleaned. Tell them what you want and they will accommodate. The Agents are personable and will put together any grade set you want. The co. by Barry Goldwater Jr. Their Web site <www.nationalcollectorsmint.com> They have specials too.

I have purchased several items from littleton coins and have nothing bad to say about them. Their prices are in the same price range as what I would pay at my local dealers. So fare what they said I was getting was what I received. Plus I like the convenience of them being delivered to my door.

If your local dealers are charging what Littleton charges, then your dealers are even more of a ripoff than most dealers!

jcook54,
For example Littleton is charging $26.95 for a 2008 SAE and the closes local dealer to me is charging $24.00 for the 2008 SAE. Shipping from Littleton to my house for that coin is about $4.95. For me to drive to my closest dealer I would use that much in gas if not more. To me $2.95 is not that big of a difference.

Amazing how some people beat me to saying something and word for word. Makes me wonder if I have a double out there somewhre. As to any dealer, coin store, etc charging what Littleton charges, RUN, don't walk in the other direction.

Nice feedback so far ! And a few routes to pursue ! thanks ! And more would be great ! And it seems most are in agreement with Littleton !! Ha Ha That's the best example of what I'm talking about...... I like to have magazines around to look at while at home, and Littleton can be among those....... JUST NOT TO BUY FROM...ONLY LOOK ! That's why I want ideas on "non-internet" sources (no computer at home......just here at the office) Coin mags are really neat to look at and have at home........ just would like to have the "right" ones, if you know what I mean !

I've seen many request on coin web sites for possible great, good or decent on line coin dealers. I always wonder why no one wants to know or have a list of the bad, horrible, to expensive ones.
