This came out of a low end "antique" store today. It was in a sealed cellophane packet, not unlike what U.S. proof coins were shipped in during the late 1950's into the early 1960's. I suspect it was at some point a mail order item.

unfortunate fire she was in I'd say or stuck in the ground for a long time.

The "S" is peculiar to me. The reverse of the issue is either a small "s" or a Med "s". This one will require some studying.

Take a closer look at the mint mark...and compare to;
