Too much reflection in that obv pic..but it shows some original luster around that legend. Next to impossible to get the grade with that pic..it would only be a bad guess on my part..
Why not get the same big rev in here also..?..but without any glare..
Good luck..!!

Not my coin and not my pictures. Graded by PCGS (better be sitting down when I post the grade as you'll definitely be shocked....that's a promise).

Here's the grade. I first want to say that I do not agree with the numerical grade, and I am shocked at the first two letters. Someone PLEASE tell me what they are seeing to grade this coin as such. PCGS SP-67

Quote: Nice call Alan. PCGS sure did make a high dollar coin out of that one :P With those rims, there's no chance that coin is a SP. Alan, level with us. Did you know this coin before I posted it? The reason I ask, is because I just don't think anyone would have thought this coin was a SP in a million years.

If you view other ms65's from the era, your still going to see slight dings and abrasions on the devices. This is extremely sharp, especially the lettering on the obverse, the reverse from what I could see from the pic is remarkably sharp. But mainly the lettering on the obverse, it lacks even the slightest mark or abrasion. I originally said ms 66, than started looking really close. It was struck with great care and likely struck twice. Some of These Canadian specimens are not like the British specimen strikes from the time, (easy to tell) so it can be very challenging. And I don't think the murky toning on this one does it any favours, it makes the coin look cruddy, but look at the legend, it's too perfect.

This coin is from the recent Heritage sale and went unsold. There is no doubt that this coin is a specimen. Go to the Heritage website for a better picture and read their description. The market is pretty thin at the present time for coins such as this. A PCGS Sp 64 1932 50 cents sold for close to $5000 US in the same sale. I consider this an outright steal. By the way ICCS graded the 1932 as a Sp 65. This coin was sold for close to 11,000 in the Belzberg sale

Based on those photos, I didn't even consider that it could be a specimen strike. But I am not all that familiar with the early SP coins.
