Here is a 1967 Centennial Quarter that I bought recently. See if you can guess the grade given to this coin by ICCS. Will post the answer (picture included) at 9:00 pm tonight, forum time. Edited by SilverDon 01/13/2016 10:08 am

The fields are great, but that die burn is a shame. MS65

Thanks for the terminology, looked it up, I thought it looked like a weak strike. A break (slight roughness) in the surface of a coin at its high points. At first, it appears to be a form of wear, but in fact, it is the result of an insufficient strike or of the use of a poor blank, so that the resulting coin fails to be completely struck. Die burns are commonly seen in the George VI series, particularly with the silver coins. http://www.btb.termiumplus.gc.ca/tp...t=DIE%20BURN

The Queen is sporting some very Jerry Remick-esque sideburns there...

I would think ms65, but I have a feeling it's an ms66, because of the great fields and ICCS loves those fields with halos.

I think they graded it at ms 63. If I was the grader, I would grade it at 62, but I think they'd likely gave a 63. It has Mushy features aside from the 'die burn'. The ear area especially, also some contact on the neck. I'm not sure how much the lustrous appeal can out weigh the lack of appeal in the striking on the queen and bobcat.
If it's a 65 it's the ugliest 65 I've ever seen, please don't take offence. Lustrous yes, but there is contact marks in the field. Other than for wonder and curiosity, I don't know the point in having this graded. Just my opinion.
Will be interesting to find out what they gave this one.

ICCS MS65 For the same reasons as Alan I would give it MS62 There's no shortage of well struck 65's around, buy the coin not the holder.

Noticed the rotated die, you are all very good at grading, MS-65 it is, with die burn, side burn. Good call Chequer. I did not pay the price noted.

You people know your grading companies! Most of you nailed it!
Can I ask, if you were a grading company, what would you give this?
