Scratches on holder are producing some shadows on the coin.

Yes, those lines are shadows from scratches on the holder.

Xf-45 was my first impression also. Outside shot at AU-50. One of my favorite coin designs.

I agree w KenKat. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 50. The reverse is also one of my all time favorites. Isn't it nice to be able to afford such a classic?

EF-45. Definitely not 50 with the complete absence of luster.

Love your coin..I have this same coin in 1853O...XF-45 PCGS..For sure one of my better coins. You have to love a one year type...looks a lot like mine,hard to get them into AU with that lovely gray color,but this one might just crack AU......Beautiful!
