What-Do-You-Say-About-This-1880-Newfoundland-Cent?

Hey all, I hope these pictures post!
Glad to be a new member of the family!

Found this earlier this year in a small paper jewelry box (which was buried in a cardboard box full of old letters of my Grandfather's) along with a handful of other late 19th and early 20th century coins. I believe it was a coin my Great-Grandmother stashed away.

I'm really in love U.S. coin varieties, it's a seemingly endless world. Perhaps that's why I've avoided getting into Canadian (and other coinage from around the world) which I often admire when I see (fantastic designs and nature scenes and animals), in fear I'll get overwhelmed, head in way too many directions at once, and really totally lose my mind! But...

This 1880 NEWFOUNDLAND Cent forced me to get over my fear (or not care) and some quick! It's a beauty!

Lucky for me this date appears to provide (at least according to my relatively brief research) us with three "date" varieties?
Narrow 0, Low 0, and Level 0 in the date? This right?
Are there any more varieties for this date?
Narrow-Rare, Low-Scarce, and Level-Common?
This appears to be a Low 0 to me. What do you think?

Well, any way you cut it, it was a very exciting surprise!
And boy, it doesn't look like it's seen a lot of action in the past 135 odd years. And what a nice color.

Tell me what you think!
THANKS

First off... , to CCF enjoy your stay with us.
Beautiful coin, it looks like a 'level'0 to me, it has a small low 0 but, don't think it's low enough to be called 'low' 0.

Actually, it is on the same level as the first 8
My low 0 drops quite a bit.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE COMPLIMENTS and INPUT/INFO!
So if it's level with the first 8, then it's a level date?

Thought I might try uploading another picture of the reverse/date that is not leaning so much... well, actually, this new one is just sort of tilted in the opposite direction.
Well, you can sort of get a balanced view between the two of them.
Same conclusion?

Thanks again!

Also just wanted to ask anyone who's been to NEWFOUNDLAND relatively recently -or anyone who's there right now- if many of the buildings and homes and boats are still all painted insanely bright and vivid colors?
I've never been there, but I read Farley Mowat's "The Boat That Wouldn't Float" (I really enjoyed it), which is set mostly NEWFOUNDLAND, and he made it sound like everyone dealt with being color-starved by painting everything in bright colors.
Hope to go someday.

Really nice looking coin.

It is still quite common to see brightly painted houses and boats, although it's not necessarily everywhere. Some places use it as a tourist attraction, especially St. John's and Jellybean Row. I've been there a number of times (have relatives from there) and my father lives there now.

Thanks Chequer,

For the comp on the coin and the NEWFOUNDLAND feedback. Colonialists here in the NEW ENGLAND area never really went for vibrant colors as you can imagine.
I hope I make it up to your neck of the woods (and ISLANDS) real soon. Sounds like a beautiful and interesting place.

Level date and round zero. Gorgeous coin, and to CCF.
