HEY ThereFamily!

I L O V E TERMINAL DIE STATES.

Subtle ones are really Great to see.
But I really, really, R E A L L Y love to see:
Extreme BREAKS!
& SWELLING!
& Cuds!

And coins that have been struck from totally BROKEN or SHATTERED DIES!

Break um' out everybody!

I find these coins to be some of the most intriguing and interesting coins ever to be minted. You can learn a lot from them and there so dang poetic. They tell great endings to often very interesting stories. Sometimes with seemingly sudden endings... but sometimes, with really truly GRAND FINALES!

The more severe the better. But really any coin would be very cool to see!
If you have one to share, please post a photo of it (both sides please) so the whole Family can take a gander.

And please tell us all a bit of something about it.
Or tell us A Lot about it!

Or even simply post a coin with a good old DIE CRACK!

I WANNA' SEE IT ALL! This should be a lot of fun.
A Big Thanks Ahead Of The Game To My New FAMILY!

I promise I'll post a good one myself soon- YOW!

Die Crack/Break? From Top Right Corner (I know there are no corners on round coins) to the Bottom Left Corner.

This was a coin I inherited from my Grandfather. He missed the error on it but as I was putting it in a protective case I noticed this with my naked eye and then zoomed in to see that it was bigger I thought.

A pretty common variety with the prominent reverse die break.

This die had been worn smooth out. Not sure it is terminal, but it is a late die state none the less. It's also an over date 1814/3. They must have been desperate for dies that year.

A very small die crack beginning to develop off of one of the stars.

I die crack can be seen running around close to the edge of the coin and one through the date.

This is the largest Cud I've ever found on a Jefferson nickel ... and unusual to be on the reverse. I sold the coin on ebay for $78 ... kinda wish now I still had it:

Here are a few of mine:

1836 CBQ's. This date is known for severely cracked dies on both obverse and reverse.

At a show last weekend, I saw these two beauties. I didn't buy them, but I did make a large purchase from the same dealer.

Wow! Fantastic clashing on these last 50cent pieces, NUMISMA!
Sweet! MAYFLOWER2020's 52' Franklin has a really terrific break on the reverse.
Awesome Cud on that 2nd Roosevelt dime 52RAYMO, it looks like the bottom of a chef's hat to me! Does the first Roosevelt dime a Cud or lamination?
Boy, I can understand where you're coming from NICKELSEARCHER; I would probably regret parting with that 1980 Jefferson with that huge Cud floating over Monticello! But I'm sure you'll find another great one out there.
CONNOR, it's great to see these two 1836 Capped Bust quarters, cracks both FRONT & BACK! Awesome! And sweet wheaty.
JPBONE's 1811 50c is sporting a really nice reverse break, and the 14/3 overdate the 1806 is great to see. I've got so much to learn about Bust Halves. Nice radial die crack on the 1830 penny, I can't remember what Newcomb variety this is (and am away from my copy of "THE CENT BOOK"), but those middle-date large cents feature quite a few of these radial style cracks, sometimes all the way around.
And BJNEFF, I've enjoyed your site very much already and look forward to seeing and learning more there.

THANKS SO MUCH FAMILY, SO MUCH FUN! KEEP UM' COMIN', I LOVE IT!
