Besides the obvious, can anyone provide me with information regarding this challenge coin. Perhaps the year it was made and for what occasion ? Thank you in advance.

has the correct JCA/PP marker mark it appears to be from the gift shop in langley just a generic one note most of these are purchased by guests to gift shops or people that work in building. ones for events should have theme on it here was the year 2000 one and a u2-dragon lady retirement one I had these in my pocket note these are the keychains they tend to have both varieties available. some workers could in theory buy a bunch and trade them for favors on bases

not sure but it is the mark of the manufacturer of the challenge coins most likely they make several for many purposes and are just a approved vender this would be for people in building, the cia people like in films would not be in giftshop but a place like the world trade center pre 911 with out a gift shop nor owning any thing even remotely connecting them to occupation I have not been to gift shop past 2000 but they now also have a spy musuem but I think post 2001 they might now be color most ones here is the spysop and whitehouse gift shop would be simular to that if still open http://www.spymuseum.org/shop/http://www.whitehousegiftshop.com/P...s-s/2192.htmI mostly have dia challege coins from what I heard they mostly made camera men, reporters, etc wait in there before going to some where so they don't wander off. and if you work there like the sign says "Don't forget! If you are undercover, you cannot charge! It will blow your cover."

everything in those places are all made in China
but I think people get a real kick out of taking home stuff
so if your ever at the cia wandering around its in the basement down the hall with yucky light green wall you get to walk by the wall of stars if you go the opposite way when you leave instead of back to elevator you came down on

Hmmm.... So the Central INTELLIGENCE Agency forgot to put the date on their coin?

More likely the box is for people to have it engraved with something as a memento of their visit.

Since this is a non colorized version of a challenge coin I was hoping it has some age to it.

There could be more than one version of the challenge coins. The enameled versions which are fired glass powder are delicate in the sense that a vibrating engraving tool either a spinning one or vibro type can cause the glass to crack and loosen from the base metal coin. Also the circle with a C in it is an indicator of copyright by JCA/PP could be the designers of the diswign of the dies and or the parties that have them made up for sale. Here is NWTmint current offering fort the CIA https://store.nwtmint.com/product_d...ence_Agency/

So let's resurrect this thread, it's only been 20 months. Yes, that box on the second coin/picture is for engraving but not necessarily for a visitors but for recognition to employees the coin is awarded/presented to. Name/Date/Mission/Event, etc...
