Any ideas? Also, is there any way to pull out the image more? It is exact diameter of a modern nickel (21.21mm). Thickness is 3.9mm. weight is 9.3g and it is magnetic. Was covered in a reddish rust/dirt and I peeled paper off of the concave side like it was glued to something. *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. *** Edited by karebear423 02/22/2018 11:39 pm

I moved your post to the appropriate section for the proper attention. Your coin images need to have unique names, otherwise we only see the last one uploaded.

Diameter and weight would help narrow things a little. to the forum.

You posted for pictures of just one side of the coin. Can you show pictures of the other side to help give us some more clues.

It looks like it may have been a Liberty "V" nickel. It's essentially just a round piece of metal now. What does the other side look like? &

A magnetic nickel @ 9.3g Edit to add, may be a curtain weight that went through the wash.

Okay, it seems my guess was incorrect according to the added info. I am now guessing that this was never actually a coin.

Try doing a paper rubbing of it. Place a piece of thin paper over it and then do a back and forth rubbing with pencil lead.

Quote: An electrical box knockout? Not likely at nearly 4mm thick. It does appear to be made from iron or steel that corroded. Where was this found?

I agree with @tunnioc that this is most likely a curtain weight.

If it were a curtain weight, shouldn't it have at least one hole through it?

You are correct spruett, the old lead curtain weights are holed , the new magnetic shower curtain weights are not.

My shower curtain weights in my shower curtain are non-holed and are magnetic.
