Here are some pics of an 1852 Three Cent Silver. I would like to know your opinions on grade and originality.

Thanks,

I'm not the most accomplished at this type, so I'll be the guinea pig and say it looks XF-40 to me and if the toning is hiding signs of an old cleaning it's doing it rather well.

These are ibe of the toughest coins to grade in my book. I'll say VF30. Maybe as high as 40.

I'd offer an opinion, but you've already read it since it's my coin. Note where the pics are located.

I'm going to have to say it's a G4, & I'm pretty sure it's been harshly cleaned. I guess I won't let that stop me from bidding on it, although I hate to bid against a forum member.

Although I suspect it would slab at about 40-45, I've seen worse on Heritage in AU slabs. Either way, it looks like I'm gonna take a beating on this one. Oh, well.

Very nice Jim. Maybe you can post some better pictures than Dave once you have it in hand.

Well, I thought I put in a strong bid & was aced out by a dollar. Even worse I didn't have enough time to raise my bid at the last minute. I guess that's the way it goes.

trdhrdr007-Once I knew it was SuperDaves coin I put in a strong bid as well. There was still some room in my max bid so I guess I am glad you weren't able to raise it any further.

tights24 I believe I will be using SuperDaves pics for my photo galery. Awesome photos!!

SuperDave I sent you a PM. Since I know your the seller I will be happy to send you a money order so you can bypass paypal.

Thanks for the free shipping.

I was bummed to see this one posted here, as I knew that meant some strong competition. I don't know how much higher I would have gone. I thought I put my max bid in, but once I was outbid auction fever kicked in. I was also watching his other two auctions, but was so disgusted with myself for letting this one get away that I didn't act on either one.

Congratulations, I think you got a nice coin. I was going to put it in my type set, but I wouldn't be surprised if a reputable TPG slabbed it as an AU.
