What do you think? Not bad, I think. Don't particularly care for the hit on the cheek, though. Interesting strike. Seems to have a few things going on. What's going on with the buffalo's rear leg? Is that a die clash?

AU-50 strong strike, no evidence of cleaning, the minor hits certainly wouldn't detail it. Very respectable example.

I think much better than AU-50 - I would say at least 58, if not mid-MS.

Don't see any wear. I'll go with 62 with a shot at 63.

On the reverse check the horn and the rear hip. Circ.

I was surprised to see a '50', which indicates significant wear (from an UNC example), so I put the coin under my stereoscopic microscope because I didn't see any wear (unaided) in hand or even in the pics (saw the hits, though!). Under first 20x magnification and then 30x magnification, I see no movement of metal at all on the horn or rear hip. I do pick up a few tiny hairlines that may show a light wipe, but I am pretty sure there isn't any wear.

Maybe I just take bad pictures.

The coin looks weird, especially the date and the FIVE CENTS on the reverse. The rim also looks funky.

The weird blobs at PLURIBUS and at the leg ... also strange; the surface appears to be somewhat resembling a very late die state strike, with flow towards the rim, but some areas do not show the flow line effect. It does appear to be clashed: check the braid for signs of some of the lettering from E PLURIBUS, which is where it usually shows up on the obverse. Might be a strike-through, also, which would explain the blobs and the weird surface variations.

I'll pass on a grade other than to say MS-something.

I like it and think low MS as well. I wish the two types had run concurrently for a few years. Has there ever been a CCF poll on type 1 vs. type 2 preference?

Yeah T-BOP, from my perspective there is something at 11:00. Very slight, a dent or a nick, maybe. I didn't even notice it at first.
