Here are some dates I picked up and reshot pictures wise. I may have a few diamonds in the rough I may send in. I know some need some verdicare which I will buy online....I also need instructions how to do it since I normally do silver coins in acetone, which I know not to do with copper and nickel coins. Thanks. Dates are 1859, 1861, 1865, 1867, 1868, 1874, 1875, 1876, 1879, and 1908.

PS - Acetone is perfectly safe for copper and nickel coins.

Would acetone remove the dark spots and green spots or is verdicare better for that? I've never fixed up pennies before only silver coins. I'll gauge more opinions but it is looking like the 1868 will be sent with some silver coins to NGC soon. I got the 68 for a VF price like $100, even though there isn't a price increase of much in xf. I don't think the 1861 is altered color....859-1864 were different alloy compositions.

Quote: I don't think the 1861 is altered color....859-1864 were different alloy compositions Yes, but the way the color is distributed worries me. I have not seen a slabbed one with that kind of color distribution. It looks like it was messed with. Compare to this one for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1863-Indian...AOSwa-dWpRDfThe distribution of color is as expected for an improperly mixed alloy.
