I was watching the auction of a group of US coins from a ebay seller who's mostly a jeweler. There's an 1877 Indian Head cent sitting in the upper left. The scan is lousy, but the N in ONE and the tops of the EN in CENT do look weak. It's hard to tell about the 77 in the date. The second one looks a bit funny to me, but I can't be sure from the scan.

I hemmed and hawed and threw in a bid, but it zoomed up at the last second. It went for $222 and I didn't win.

What do folks think? Is this the real deal or not?

I am thinking at least a couple others bidding on it thought so.

For me the quality of the pictures would have stopped me from
bidding at that level.

Hard to tell from the pics but looks like "states of" on the observe may be worn off. Also a little odd they left the hair and lent on the coin. I'm not sure how accurate coinstudy.com is but it shows a value of $390 for one in "good" condition. You might have made a little on it but not a ton. On to the next one!
Rest in Peace

In my opinion it looks legit, but it is very hard to tell. Probably would not have put that much money up to chance.

There would have been no risk to find out. It's covered by the money-back guarantee.
