Here's another slabbed coin that caught my eye as not living up to the grade. It could be that the photo and lighting don't capture the details, but this EF-45 1868 Indian sure looks worn on the obverse to me. The reverse looks a lot nicer. What do folks think? http://www.ebay.com/itm/23181401834...RK:MEBIDX:ITPaul Bulgerin

That is odd. I'm not seeing an XF coin from those photos.

This is definitely the case where the saying "BUY THE COIN, NOT THE SLAB" originated from. The REV is definitely better than the OBV

Taking a good image through the plastic on the slab is difficult for some people. There is NO way to be able to make an accurate grade on these images as they are badly focused and there are no images on the cert look up. Ask the seller to send you some images that ARE in focus and you will be able to make a better assessment of this coin. It is not that often that PCGS over grade a coin.

Looks VG-10 to me. Not sure what the graders were thinking with this one.

Wow, Doesn't look EF to me but, one should always have the coin in hand to know for sure, could be a weak strike.... a very weak strike..

The rim looks weak at the date. No letters in LIBERTY are visible. Horizontal lines on the shield look blended. Based on these images I'm with IndianGold at VG.

I don't know how anyone can claim to be able to know the grade with those photos.

trout1105 , You might be right in some cases pertaining to photos taken through slabs . but come on, there is nothing cloudy or shady with these photos of said coin. I'm with most members on a low grade.

These are scans and not photos but I think they are clear enough to tell this coin is a long way away from EF-45.

PCGS overgrades coins an awful lot in my opinion. There is no way this is anywhere near the assigned grade.

Label error/data entry error, in my opinion, not a deliberate overgrade.
